UAE Tops the World in Mobile Shopping in 2025, Says Visa Report

The UAE is now the number one country for mobile shopping, according to the 2025 Global Digital Shopping Index. Around 67% of people in the UAE used their phones for their most recent purchase. That’s a 23% increase since 2022.

More People Shopping on Phones

The UAE has the highest rate of people shopping online with their phones—37%. It’s ahead of countries like Singapore, the UK, and Brazil. This information comes from a report by Visa Acceptance Solutions and PYMNTS Intelligence.

Biometric Payments Growing

More people in the UAE are using fingerprints or face recognition to pay—32%, which is almost twice the global average.

Mix of Online and In-Store Shopping

About 53% of UAE shoppers like to mix online and in-store shopping. Many also care about rewards, free shipping, and getting the best price.

What Shoppers Want

UAE shoppers value:

  • Rewards programs (75%)

  • Free shipping (73%)

  • Price matching (70%)

Also, 38% of shoppers made their last purchase online using a phone or computer, choosing home delivery.

Mobile Shopping by Age

Mobile shopping is common across age groups:

  • 73% of Millennials use their phones to shop.

  • Gen X and Gen Z are also active mobile shoppers.

  • But only 18% of older people (baby boomers and seniors) use mobile shopping.

Easy and Safe Payments

The report says the UAE has a strong system that helps businesses and the government work together for safe and smooth digital payments.

Also, 77% of people say payment options affect where they shop. But only 26% of shoppers in the UAE use saved payment details with stores, compared to 45% globally. This shows there’s a chance to make shopping faster with one-click and biometric options.

To help with this, Visa is working with local businesses to grow its Click to Pay service.
