Kuwait’s yearly inflation stayed steady at 2.49% in February due to higher food and clothing prices

Kuwait’s yearly inflation rate stayed the same at 2.49% in February. Prices went up a lot in food, drinks, clothing, and shoes, according to an official report on Tuesday.

Changes in Prices for Consumers

  • In February 2025, the prices of food and drinks in Kuwait went up by 5.2% compared to the same time last year. Clothing and shoes became 4.6% more expensive, according to the Central Statistical Bureau of Kuwait.
  • Healthcare costs increased by 4.1%, while furniture prices rose by 3%. Entertainment and cultural activities cost 2.5% more, and eating out or staying in hotels became 2% more expensive.
  • Transport costs went up by 1.2%, and housing services increased by 0.9%. The cost of communication services rose by 0.8%, and education became 0.7% more expensive. The smallest change was in cigarette and tobacco prices, which only increased by 0.07%. The biggest price increase was in various goods and services, which went up by 5.5%.
  • Overall, inflation remained steady at 2.5%, the same as in January and December.

Monthly Price Changes (CPI)

In February 2025, Kuwait’s consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.22% from the previous month, reaching 135.7. This was mainly due to higher prices for important everyday items.

Food and drink prices went up by 0.6%, mostly because of higher costs for bread, cereals, meat, poultry, fish, seafood, dairy products, oils, fats, fruits, vegetables, sugar, and other food items.

Clothing and shoe prices increased by 0.4%, while furniture, household equipment, and maintenance costs went up by 0.3%.
