AD Ports Group signs a 50-year agreement to develop Egypt’s KEZAD East Port Said area

AD Ports Group has signed a 50-year renewable agreement with Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Authority to develop the KEZAD East Port Said Zone, according to an official statement on Sunday.

Agreement Details

  • AD Ports Group will create and manage a 20-square-kilometer industrial and logistics zone near the city of Port Said, located along the Mediterranean coast. The company will design, build, finance, operate, and oversee the zone in several stages. The first stage will cover 2.8 square kilometers and is expected to start soon, though no exact date has been set.
  • A total of $120 million will be spent on market and technical studies and on developing the first stage over the next three years. Construction for this phase will begin by the end of this year, and it will include a 1.5-kilometer quay, which may later serve as a multipurpose cargo terminal.
  • The first phase will involve several potential stakeholders and partners, although their names have not been shared. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE, mentioned that the KEZAD East Port Said industrial and logistics zone is directly linked to East Port Said Port, which has deep-water capacity for large ships and is well-connected to advanced transport systems.
  • SCZONE covers 455 square kilometers and includes four industrial zones—East Port Said, East Ismailia, West Qantara, and Ain Sokhna—connected to six seaports. SCZONE’s location at the crossroads of Africa, Asia, and Europe, near the Suez Canal, makes it an important hub for global trade.

Potential Deals

AD Ports Group has signed an agreement with Hassan Allam Holding to explore future port and industrial zone projects, as well as joint ventures in logistics, in East Port Said and other places in Egypt.

In December 2024, AD Ports Group gave a contract to Hassan Allam Construction, part of Hassan Allam Holding, to build infrastructure for the Safaga Terminal on Egypt’s Red Sea coast.

In 2023, AD Ports signed a $200 million agreement with the General Authority for Red Sea Ports to develop and manage the Safaga Multipurpose Terminal, which will be the first international multipurpose terminal in Upper Egypt.

AD Ports Group operates in five main areas: Ports, Economic Cities and Free Zones, Maritime & Shipping, Logistics, and Digital. The company manages 34 terminals in over 50 countries and more than 550 square kilometers of economic zones through KEZAD Group, the largest integrated trade, logistics, and industrial hub in the Middle East.
