Dubai World Trade Centre Earns $6.1B in 2024, Thanks to More Large Events
The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) made $6.1 billion (AED 22.4 billion) in revenue in 2024, according to the 2024 Economic Impact Assessment (EIA) reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM).
DWTC’s 2024 Events
- The assessment shows that revenue grew because of 100 big exhibitions, international conferences, and industry events, leading to a 32% increase compared to last year.
- About $3.5 billion (AED 13.04 billion) of the total revenue was kept as Gross Value Added (GVA), which helps Dubai’s economy.
- The rise in large events is thought to have created 85,533 jobs in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector and related industries.
- The increase in international participation played an important role in boosting the economy and making a bigger impact overall.
Key Quote
“The great performance of DWTC in 2024 shows that Dubai can bring together the world’s best minds, leading companies, and innovative ideas that can shape the future,” said Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in the report.
“This success is due to our ongoing investment in modern infrastructure, global connections, and a business-friendly environment that connects markets and encourages partnerships,” he added.
International Attendees
DWTC’s report showed that more than two million people attended the events, with over 930,000 traveling from other countries, supporting Dubai’s tourism.
International attendees spent a lot more than local participants, averaging $2,677.10 (AED 9,833) per event—almost six times the $455.49 (AED 1,673) spent by local attendees.
The report explained that the money they spent on travel, stays, food, shopping, and traveling with family or colleagues creates a bigger impact on the city’s economy.
In 2024, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region had the most international visitors, making up 32% of the total attendees. Europe followed with 27%, while Asia Pacific and Eastern Europe & Central Asia each made up 10%. The top 10 international countries sending visitors were Saudi Arabia, India, China, Turkey, Oman, the UK, Egypt, Iran, Russia, and Germany.
