Saudi Arabia’s Mawani Improves Global Shipping With SeaLead’s New ‘5CX’ Service at Jeddah Islamic Port
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has added a new shipping service called “5CX” by SeaLead to Jeddah Islamic Port. This move aims to improve connections with global markets, help Saudi exports, and make the port more competitive, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Building Stronger Partnerships
A new shipping service now connects Jeddah Islamic Port with 10 ports around the region and the world. These include ports in China (Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha), Egypt (Damietta), Türkiye (Aliaga, Izmit, Istanbul, Mersin), and Malaysia (Port Klang). The service can handle up to 1,500 standard containers, according to the report.
This project supports Mawani’s goal to improve Saudi Arabia’s global rankings and make operations at Jeddah Islamic Port more efficient.
It also helps move imports and exports more easily, as part of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. This strategy aims to make Saudi Arabia a major logistics hub that connects three continents.
Key Fact
Jeddah Islamic Port is the main port on the Red Sea. With 62 berths for different types of cargo, it plays an important role both in the region and around the world, helping Saudi Arabia grow in the maritime industry.
Additional Info
In March, the UAE’s DP World and Mawani opened the new South Container Terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port. This is part of DP World’s $800 million (SAR 3 billion) plan to expand and improve the port, aiming to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s role in global trade.
