Saudi petrochemical company SABIC Agri-Nutrients’ net profit rose 17% in Q1 2025 to $262.5 million, thanks to higher sales
SABIC Agri-Nutrients Co., a fertilizer company in Saudi Arabia, said on Sunday that its net income for the first quarter of 2025 grew by 17.1% compared to last year. It reached $262.5 million (SAR 985 million), thanks to higher sales and more earnings from a partner company and a joint venture.
First-quarter results
- SABIC Agri-Nutrients reported a 22.1% increase in sales for the first quarter of 2025, reaching $819.3 million (SAR 3.07 billion), compared to the same period last year, according to a report filed on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul).
- The company said the rise in sales was due to an 18% increase in the amount of products sold. Last year, the sales were lower because the company’s third plant for urea and ammonia production had a planned shutdown. The company also mentioned that a 3% increase in the average selling price helped boost sales.
- Earnings per share (EPS) increased by 17% to $0.55 (SAR 2.07). Operating profit went up by 17.4% to $228.4 million (SAR 857 million), while gross profit grew by 17.9% to $310.5 million (SAR 1.16 billion). Total shareholders’ equity rose by 4.1% to $5.1 billion (SAR 19.28 billion).
- Free cash flow, however, dropped by 41% compared to the same quarter last year, down to $171.4 million (SAR 643 million).
- SABIC Agri-Nutrients’ CEO, Fahad Al-Battar, said that prices for agricultural nutrients improved in the first quarter of 2025, mainly due to higher demand from key countries that increased their inventory in preparation for the spring season.
Second-quarter outlook
The company expects demand to focus on Southeast Asia and Oceania in the second quarter, as major importers in the Northern Hemisphere finish their spring planting. They also noted that buyers may delay purchases and lower stock levels until they have more clarity on recent government policies, such as US import tariffs and Chinese export restrictions.
